We have been going to Dot almost weekly for over two years and there's a reason we keep returning. It's is the place you go for expertly crafted cocktails prepared by knowledgeable bartenders. I would never say it was a bar that was suitable for everyone - for us, we appreciate the focus on the drinks and the atmosphere created by a lack of TVs, warmth from the staff and the sense that you're at a place that cares about presentation (both of the menu items and of its customers).
We occasionally get food and it is consistently good, but the cocktails and people are what keep us coming back. For us, the cocktail menu is full of well-balanced drinks, and if you want to play around with different liquors/flavors, the bartenders are well equipped to make whatever you're looking for. Just keep in mind a lot of ingredients are seasonal.
We do suggest, especially for parties of one or two who are serious about their cocktails, sitting at the bar if at all possible. But remember the bar is reserved too, so you can't just walk up and sit.
For the people who complain about ID requirements - regardless of you age, don't go out to bars without your actual ID. I've been legally able to drink for 20+ years and I know I still need my ID when I go out drinking. Why would a bar want to possibly lose its liquor license because you didn't bother to plan ahead?
Another point to clear up, membership is $10 per year, not $25 as someone erroneously said in another review. And we consider it money well spent.
Dot Dot Dot is one of the few “must see” bars in Charlotte. I’m not one to usually be wowed by most places, but I have to give credit where it’s due, and Dot Dot Dot deserves high praise. Their bartenders are absolute professionals, and we had a great time conversing with Rachel and Casey. They recommended multiple cocktails, and each was incredible. The menu is extensive, and don’t be afraid to try something new or a drink that might seem too far outside your norm. If it’s on the menu, you’ll probably like it! Cheers! 🍹 🥃
Never ever a miss. Low key date night gets elevated to something easy, amazing, and memorable. Solid Old Fashioned , the Drink with No Name was perfect. Followed by a couple of excellent dirty martinis. Small charcuterie was a perfect complement to the drinks. As was the Mushroom Dumplings app. Another great visit with the crew at dotdotdot. Dylan, Casey and Marisa were delights behind the bar. Take their advice.
I normally do not write reviews like this but I felt it was necessary. A group of us decided to end our night at Dot Dot Dot unfortunately we didn’t make it past the front door. They would not let our friend (who was a member) in because she was dressed in leggings and a sweatshirt which was not “part of the dress code”. The door guy and manager kept telling her “she should have known better” like she was a child. Their nasty tone and the way they looked at her up and down was uncalled for. It’s crazy considering leggings and sweatshirt is what a majority of girls in Charlotte wear. I’ve been to SoHo houses all over the world in literal torn sweatpants and never experienced this kind of entitlement or rudeness. Needless to say, we didn’t want to step a foot in their back alley door. There’s so many other places in Charlotte that have great drinks and aren’t rude that I’d rather give my money to.
My response to the owners RUDE reply: Your response tells me all I need to know. Your door guy is part of your business. Every employee that works for you is your business if you’re a good businessman because they represent your business. Again, the issue was not the dress code. It is the lack of mannerism and professionalism. The issue is the entitlement and rudeness. Respectfully, I have traveled the world and this establishment has, no grounds or bearings to have this type of rude and dismissive behavior for patrons who are willing to support your business. Boundaries sounds more like an excuse to profile people based on their appearance which in 2024 can get you into hot water quickly. So if I need to provide more information such as watching you allow multiple men in jeans and baseball caps as your “manager” and “doorman” reprimand a group of women all well put together and in a joyful holiday mood, then let me know.
The atmosphere and charm of this small speakeasy makes me add Dot Dot Dot to one of my top 5 spots in Charlotte. The staff were extremely personable and genuine and never got tired of chatting and answering our questions. The food was exquisite and I'm excited to see what the chef comes up with in the Fall.
Thank you Dot Dot Dot for a wonderful night out with my hubby. From the time we sat down until we left we had such a good time. The food was absolutely divine. The drinks were phenomenal. We both had the steak and wow! Every Server/Crew in that building knocked it out of the park. They all knew the menu and what paired well. We will so be back!
Truly a special experience. My partner and I went here on our anniversary, and it was a great spot to facilitate good laughs and good times. We each ordered two different cocktails from their varied menu, and we were blown away by their spectacular presentation and flavor. We even got a complimentary glass of champagne for the special occasion! I recommend coming on an empty stomach and enjoying a few of the small plates. The menu changes often so I'll make a point to come back soon and try some more dishes.
A great place to gather and have some delicious food and drink. Frequently come here with my middle-aged parents for a dinner with conversation. Excellent cocktail list.
